Aged Care Operations Diversity Framework

Aged Care Operations has a Diversity Framework in place to support older people in our community and ensure a culture of continuous improvement for diversity outcomes.

Action plans have been developed to support the Aged Care Operations Diversity Framework. They aim to assist our services and older people in addressing the barriers faced by older:

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
  • people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds

The shared action plans for St Joseph’s House and Star of the Sea set out actions to support all diverse older people.

Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP)

A Reconciliation Action Plans (RAP) has been developed to enable us to sustainably and strategically take meaningful action to advance reconciliation.

Based around the core pillars of relationships, respect and opportunities, our RAP provides tangible and substantive benefits for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, increasing economic equity and supporting First Nations self-determination. Aged Care Operations has developed a Reflect RAP to help prepare us as an organisation to engage in reconciliation in a meaningful way.

Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) Strategy and Action Plan

A Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) Strategy and Action Plan has been developed to meet the needs of older people from CALD backgrounds and ensure our workforce is supported to meet the outcomes of older people.

The CALD Strategy and Action Plan:

  • Takes a human rights based approach.
  • Empowers older people, their family, carers or representatives with the information to know what they are entitled to and the confidence to ask for what they want.
  • Supports us to meet our obligations under the Quality Standards .
  • Guides us to identify short-term and long-term actions to support older people from CALD backgrounds.
