Cook

We are seeking a part-time Cook who will be part of our fast-paced dynamic kitchen team.

You will be joining a team passionate about providing quality service to our residents and have high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.

You will play a vital part in adding to the quality of life our residents currently experience at St Joseph’s House.

 

About the Role:

The Cook is responsible for the preparation of food for St Joseph’s house kitchen and dining rooms, and for maintaining the kitchen in a clean, neat, and tidy manner. The Cook will also adhere to St Joseph’s House policies and procedures, and legislative food hygiene requirements.

As a cook your duties will be:

  • Directly responsible for supervising kitchen staff
  • Setting up workstations and operating kitchen equipment
  • Measuring and weighing ingredients
  • Following recipes and set menus
  • Baking, grilling, steaming or boiling fish, meat, vegetables and other foods
  • Presenting and garnishing dishes
  • Adhering to kitchen hygiene and safety standards
  • Maintaining a clean workspace at all times
  • Monitoring stock levels
  • Keeping up with cooking techniques and methods

 

About you:

  • You have a passion for food, food preparation and providing a great dining experience.
  • You understand the legislative food hygiene requirements, including food safety programs.
  • You have commercial kitchen experience, preferably in an aged care setting
  • You understand the demands of working in a kitchen
  • You are motivated and can work unsupervised at times
  • Have basic computer skills
  • A Certificate in Commercial Cookery or equivalent is desirable

Successful candidates will be provided ongoing training to meet the requirements of the role.
